I have had my Barbour Border jacket now for over 20 years and apart from the odd wax, done by myself, it is still going strong. But recently I purchased an international waxed jacket and the quality is not up to the standards you expect from Barbour! The jacket outer starts to go mildew when left (dry) for a long period (its with my border and westmorland and I've had a problem with those) also the diamond stitching on the quilted lining has started to come undone! I found out that the international Jackets (as well as a lot of other pieces they make) are now made abroad...I now know why the quality is left wanting. The Trad thornproofs like the border, Beaufort and Bedale are still made in the UK and are still made to British quality standards. Just goes to show that when a company cuts costs by having products made abroad the standard of manufacture goes with it. Come on Barbour bring the work back to Britain were it belongs, and stop thinking about big profit margins, you know it makes sense?
I bought a pair of Bede wellies from Barbour feeling confident that they would be good country boots. They were hopeless ????. The heels wore down and they ripped at the sides and the back within a year of dog walking. My last pair of Hunter wellies lasted 10 years!!! When I complained to customer services I was basically told that I had worn them too much! They should not be fashion items but designed for some hard work in the rain and mud. So sad that this great British brand has gone to pot.

I bought a pair of Barbour Farsley Chelsea Boots in December 2020.
I used them for doing very little walking, probably just to the local shop and back on occasion.
In July 2021 the sole of both boots had fallen off, the adhesive separating from the leather top.
These boots show stitching around the soles, but the soles are not stitched, its for show only.
So, the conclusion is, they look nice, they are comfortable, but don't try and use them as footwear as they will fall apart.
Not fit for purpose and not what I would expect from a Barbour branded product.
I have requested a refund from Barbour, but sadly they just pass the buck onto the retailer without accepting the fact that they have made an unfit for use product. I shall go to court under the sale of goods act to resolve the matter if required.
Seems to be a common theme in these reviews- Barbour jackets are just not as durable as they used to be.
Bought a Barbour International jacket and in the first year I noticed a small hole develop in the sleeve - I thought this was unusual as I had been so careful, I’d even sent the jacket back to Barbour for re-waxing. Second year a hole appeared in the other sleeve, and like the first it appears to be just from poor quality material.
I sent the jacket to Barbour hoping they could repair, but they just returned the jacket saying they only do very basic repairs and as this was a padded jacket there was nothing they could do. I called them and the customer service told me almost all jackets now made overseas and no longer designed for repair….. Like most people in these reviews I will never buy Barbour again.. They are eroding a loyal customer base, and sad to see the demise of a fine British company as they sacrifice quality for short term profit.
Absolutely terrible terrible quality
My wife brought me a pair of this company’s short Wellington boots thinking they would be of good quality but after not even 8 months of light wear they are completely split on both boots making them un wearable. I would like to attach pictures as I have done on the Barbour Twitter page. I have a cheap pair from Asda I have had for close to 6 years not a issue.
So much for a name of quality when Asda’s own out perform a high end brand like Barbour.
Don’t waste your money
Absolutely brilliant service. Was a problem with the zip on partners coat so I emailed barbour and explained. They sent a prepaid bag, so I sent it off then 7 days later recieved the coat back. They had fitted a new zip & re-waxed too for free. The zip was a manufacturer problem so that was fixed free of charge too. I cant believe how fast the service was. Highly reccomend the repair & pre-tax service
I can deal with the very long arm length on the XXL. The Horrow is a great jacket but is badly let down by only one miniscule inside pocket, too small for a modern mobile phone. Why be so mean with the number and size of inside pockets? At least give clear information about the paucity of your inside pockets in the product description! Come on Barbour, wake up to the modern age!!
I sent a drywall jacket back to be relaxed and to have the lining corrected as it had fallen below the back and the cuffs. Obviously a design fault as I had only worn the jacket a few times. I paid in advance and then had to chase for it to be returned. I was then returned with a torn sleeve lining. Obviously their quality control is lacking. I was told they would repair it and send a prepaid postage label. I have emailed twice and phoned twice and I am still waiting for the label. What an abysmal after sales service. I will wait another day and then get the coat repaired elsewhere and do a chargeback with my bank to get the repair fee back.
I have over several Barbour coats but would think twice before buying another.
Underwhelmed by Barbour Customer Service Department. I recently purchased a lightweight hooded jacket. However the material is too lightweight for the pocket poppers, so within a week the popper had turned itself inside out and looks really unsightly (an extra square of fabric showing). I was hoping for some help / replacement jacket from Barbour but I have simply been ignored :(
Fantastic repair service!
The workmanship is excellent and the patches are almost invisible. The whole process, from initially seeking a quote to the delivery of the repaired jacket by DPD, went smoothly with no problems. Well done Barbour!

I had issues with footwear and tried to return them to where I purchased them from with no luck. I then contacted customer services I was dealt with by Natalie, she provided 100% customer care, she kept me up to date and resolved the matter in a very short time. I will continue to buy from barbour as there product quality is great, and if you do have an issue speak to customer services you will be dealt with as you would expect from a quality company.
